The first wave of NFL free agency has come and gone, which means it's time to reevaluate the Philadelphia Eagles' draft needs.
With the loss of Josh Sweat to the Arizona Cardinals, Milton Williams to the New England Patriots and veteran legend Brandon Graham to retirement, the Eagles will likely be looking for extra edge depth.
And that's exactly why NFL Network's draft expert Daniel Jeremiah has the Eagles drafting Texas A&M edge Shemar Stewart at No. 32 overall in his post-free agency mock draft.
Jeremiah notes that Stewart's college production is very similar to when the Eagles selected Nolan Smith in the first-round draft pick from 2023, which ultimately worked out for them in the end.
"Stewart has offered more disruption than production to this point in his career, but the Eagles made a similar move with Nolan Smith a couple years ago and it has paid off in a big way," -NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah
Stewart finished his three-year A&M career with 65 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks in 37 games.
That is in comparison to Smith's 114 total tackles, 21 tackles for loss, and 11.5 sacks in 46 games played through four seasons at Georgia. Smith missed much of his senior season due to a pectoral injury, which had many questioning the Philly pick. Fast forward two years later in the NFL and he led the Eagles in sacks en route to a Super Bowl win.
Stewart did, however, put his explosiveness and athleticism on full display at the Reese's Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine last month, which only helped prove that he has a lot of upside.
Stewart, 6-5 and 267 pounds, finished his NFL combine testing with a 4.59 40-time, good for third in his position group.
Stewart will have one more day to showcase his skills in front of coaches and scouts on March 27 at A&M's Pro Day, and there's a good chance that the Eagles could be in the building for that.
