Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith is heading back to his home state of New Orleans to play in his second Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs.
That means Smith won't have to spend the extra money on flights or hotel rooms for his family.
"I don’t have to pay for flights, I don’t have to pay for [hotel] rooms, and stuff," Smith jokingly said. "It means a lot not just because it’s back home, but this is the end goal to get to the Super Bowl but now going out there and making sure we finish the right way."
Not only does Smith get to save a few bucks, but he also has a chance to make history at home.
If the Eagles beat the Chiefs, Smith can become just the fifth player in NFL history to win a Heisman, a College Football National Championship, and a Super Bowl.
He would join an elite list of Charles Woodson, Tony Dorsett, Marcus Allen, and Reggie Bush as the only four NFL players to complete the fleet.
Bush was initially removed from the list after the NCAA took his Heisman trophy, though they have since returned it.
While adding his name to such a prestigious list would "mean a lot" to Smith, a much bigger and selfless picture is weighing on his mind.
“It means a lot, (but) not just because of that but because from spring, we were coming in for our OTAs, from training camp to now, it’s a lot of work that’s been put in and you see it’s paying off," Smith said. "Now just going out there and hoping we can finish this the right way.”
