The San Francisco 49ers will be without two key players in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Hours before kickoff, the team ruled out running back Elijah Mitchell (groin) and cornerback Ambry Thomas (ankle).

Mitchell’s designation is cause for concern for San Francisco. Running back Christian McCaffrey has been dealing with calf tightness over the last few weeks, which could pose a problem if he needs a breather at any point.

Behind McCaffrey will be Jordan Mason and Tyrion Price-Davis, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see Deebo Samuel get some work out of the backfield as well.

The 49ers will also be without Thomas, who has been a valuable depth piece in the secondary this season. Without Thomas’ speed, there will likely be opportunities for Devonta Smith on the outside to make plays down the field against a thin Niners secondary.

As for the Eagles, they will be playing at full strength.

There were no players listed as questionable or worse on Friday’s injury report, which is a rarity at this point in the season.
