Sunday was a very important and significant day for the Philadelphia Eagles' second-year head coach Nick Sirianni.
Sure, they won the NFC Championship and are heading to the Super Bowl in just his second season, with an MVP-caliber quarterback, on the most balanced team in football, but there is some other reason Sunday was important.
He may not remember it, although I'm sure he does knowing his memory and the things he shares with the media from his past, but On Sunday two years ago, January 29th, 2021 Sirianni gave his introductory press conference as the Eagles' new head coach.
On the same exact day two years ago, Sirianni tried to convince Philadelphia that he was the right guy for the job. And, believe it or not, he failed miserably.
Sirianni was juggling words, stuttering, and struggling to get any form of a complete sentence to come out of his mouth. He was nervous and frankly, everyone thought he wasn't yet ready for the bright lights of an NFL head coaching job.
No really, that is what everyone thought just based on that first press conference. I'm sure where he was coaching, the guy that came before him, and the incredible Philly faithful fan base didn't help him out much either.
In the end, I'm sure he is able to look back on that and just laugh because now he has a chance to put a Super Bowl ring on his finger.
