The Philadelphia Eagles officially opened the 21-day practice window for starting nickel cornerback Avonte Maddox on Thursday.

Maddox, who underwent surgery on a torn pec that he sustained in Week 2, was spotted practicing alone on the sideline last week. Now, he'll be able to participate with his teammates.

The announcement comes just in time as the Eagles are set to wrap up their 2023 regular season and make their way to the playoffs.

Depending on how this week goes, Maddox could return to the starting lineup as soon as the Eagles' Week 16 matchup against the New York Giants on Christmas Day.

Maddox's veteran presence is much needed, not only because of the Eagles' struggling pass defense but also since cornerback Darius Slay will miss time recovering from knee surgery.

Before heading to the IR, Maddox had logged eight tackles and a forced fumble through two games.
