Brandon Graham stays with Eagles after signing one-year deal
The Eagles are starting to see the free agent dominoes fall.
Today has been a busy day for the Philadelphia Eagles from a news standpoint, and while the business with Darius Slay is going to a leave a lot of fans holding their breath, Brandon Graham will at least ease some concerns.
Graham was one of the best players on the Eagles roster last season. Eleven sacks, 11 tackles for loss, and 16 quarterback hits reflect a dominant season from a statistical perspective for a pass rusher, and getting that from a long-time veteran is all the better.
Such a great season from a recognizable player was sure to turn heads on the free agent market. Pass rusher is one of the most important positions in the sport, after all.
The good news for the Eagles is that they won't have to worry about focusing on a future without their defensive leader.
Rather than going out and seeing what he could get on a competitive open market, Graham instead made the team-first decision to re-sign with the Eagles before free agency opened.
This is an awesome move by a guy that has proven himself on more than one occasion. Graham would've been well within his right to test the waters elsewhere after his 13 years in Philly, but a decision like this shows where his heart is.
Now, the Eagles can cross one name off their free agent list that was going to make a big change if he chose to depart, and a decision like this will save some money in the end since Graham didn't go to the open market.
Today is a good day to be an Eagles fan.
