The Philadelphia Eagles had a ton of great moves during this offseason. From draft picks to free agency, a ton of these moves have been celebrated across the league.
Howie Roseman is a master at his craft, and sometimes it ends up being the moves that don't get all of the attention that end up being some of the best for this franchise.
As of now, that move that could pan out the best was the addition of free agent wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus.
Zaccheaus has mostly been a quiet player during his time on a bad Falcons team that usually had mediocre coaching and quarterback play, but his last two years point to a major upside that could elevate a top offense. The Eagles have that offense and the coaching to open doors for Zaccheaus that he has never seen before.
For starters, Zaccheaus has never played with a quarterback on Jalen Hurts' level. Hurts is a fringe-MVP that looks poised to get even better this offseason, so getting the ball shouldn't be much of a difficulty for the newcomer.
It is also worth noting that joining a room like this as the WR3 is going to be a major boon for Zaccheaus. Sure, he may lose out on some of the touches that he could've seen in Atlanta with a less-structured room, but other defenses are going to be so focused on A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith that Zaccheaus should be able to get open at will and make the most of his touches.
And make the most of his touches he did during his last few years. Being able to go off for 533 yards and three touchdowns on 60 targets in 17 games with terrible quarterback play and no offensive identity is a hard task by itself. Just imagine how much easier that becomes when you go to a team that already has one of the best offenses in the NFL.
A good, effective player on a bad team is going to a good team that will immediately fit with his style of play like a glove. There is no easier recipe for a breakout. Expect it from Olamide Zaccheaus in 2023.
