Philadelphia Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson owes the NFL even more money this week.
In the Eagles' Week 3 win over the New Orleans Saints, Gardner-Johnson was fined $11,255.00 for Unnecessary Roughness (late hit) and a total of $33,766 for two Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalties (taunting).
The late hit fine was from when he threw Saints running back Alvin Kamara on the ground after he was already clearly out of bounds.
Gardner-Johnson had previously been fined $11.255 for Unsportsmanlike Conduct (taunting) after he ripped the mouthpiece from Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud's helmet in Week 2.
We are only three weeks into the 2024 season and Gardner-Johnson has had to pay $56,276 in fines back to the league.
Two players from New Orleans were also fined. Defensive tackle Khristian Boyd was fined $4,665 for the late hit on wide receiver DeVonta Smith and offensive tackle Trevor Penning was fined $11,255 for his late hit on cornerback Darius Slay.
Smith has been ruled out for Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a concussion from that play while Slay practiced all week with a knee injury.
