The backup quarterback position may not be glamorous, but it is an important one.

Teams that lose their starting quarterbacks for the season usually fall out of contention immediately, so it makes sense that strong teams with well-rounded rosters would want to find as many options as possible to keep the ship straight if they were to lose their most important player.

The Eagles made one of their first moves of the offseason to sign Marcus Mariota to become Jalen Hurts' backup, but that doesn't mean the team is stopping there.

If the price is right, there can never be too much talent in the quarterback room if the backups have the right attitudes.

Could Cam Newton join Jalen Hurts and Mariota? It seems unlikely, but Newton has recently listed the quarterbacks he would be willing to backup and Hurts' name was on the list.

Based on the fact that Newton didn't list Mariota, it seems unlikely he would really want to join the Eagles if given the chance, but it would still be interesting to see that quarterback room if it ever came to be.

At this point, it seems like anything is possible with this Eagles team. Former superstar Cam Newton joining would be pretty par for the course.
