It's crazy when you think about the two teams that will be playing each other in the Super Bowl this season, faced off against each other last season, and are totally different teams now.

People seem to forget this isn't the first meeting between Mahomes and Hurts. The two played in Week 4 of the 2021 season, in a game that saw the Chiefs beat the Eagles 42-20.

Mahomes went on to throw for 278 yards and five touchdowns while Hurts threw for 387 yards and two touchdowns.

The Chiefs were just coming off a Super Bowl loss and the Eagles were trying to see if Hurts could be the guy of the future. We later figured out this season that he most definitely can be, and he is, as he will likely finish right behind Mahomes in the MVP voting, which says a lot.

Now, both are heading to the Super Bowl to face each other in what could be the best game we have seen in quite some time. To make things even better, this is the first time in NFL history the two starting quarterbacks of the Super Bowl were both black.

For Mahomes, this is nothing new. This is his third Super Bowl appearance in five years, with five straight AFC Championship game appearances. For Hurts, well, he is just getting started. He manifested this back when they last played in 2021.

After the game, like every quarterback does, the two shook hands and wished each other luck moving forward. There is a level of respect between these two that is very strong, and I think we will see that during media week before the game.

Mahomes told Hurts "Keep playing the way you're playing. …It's going to come. It's coming."

What did Hurts say to that? Well, he said, "I'll see him again one day."

What do you know, the two are meeting in the Super Bowl as two of the top three quarterbacks in the league. Hurts was right, and he sort of manifested his future.

His hard work and determination is a huge reason they are here today. He worked hard at his craft and perfected it, which is why we saw a huge jump in his play, which is also why we saw a huge jump in the Eagles' play.

Either way, I think we can honestly say this Super Bowl will be fun.
