The Philadelphia Eagles won't get their Christmas wish after all.

According to the Birds' final injury report, starting nickel cornerback Avonte Maddox has been ruled out for Monday's evening matchup against the New York Giants.

Maddox's 21-day practice window was activated this week and while he was a full participant Thursday through Saturday, it looks like he isn't ready to go just yet.

It's a huge loss for the Eagles' struggling secondary, which is also going to be without Darius Slay (knee).

Eli Ricks, Kelee Ringo and Bradley Roby will handle the extra snaps at corner.

The Eagles will also be down at linebacker.

Zach Cunningham has been ruled out with a knee injury and Nick Morrow is listed as questionable with an abdomen injury. This means that the Eagles will lean heavily on Shaquille Leonard and Nolan Smith.

It also means t that 2023 undrafted free agent linebacker Ben VanSumeren could see some defensive snaps for the first time this year.
