The Philadelphia Eagles could see transition on multiple levels this offseason, whether it be on the coaching staff, roster, or even a bit in the front office.

A key assistant coach could head to a division rival (or somewhere else) this offseason, furthering the work Philly will have to do in order to ensure their best shot at making a playoff run next year.

Eagles may have to replace defensive assistant who is helping young players improve

According to Jordan Schultz, the Dallas Cowboys are requesting permission to interview Eagles defensive backs coach and pass game coordinator Christian Parker for their defensive coordinator job. Dallas recently fired DC Matt Eberflus.

Parker is still just 34 years old. That being said, his knowledge of NFL defenses is extensive, and he worked for the Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos before joining the eAgles in 2024.

This situation is not new for the experienced defensive mind, who has had quite the stint with Philadelphia. Parker has already received interest for DC positions in years past, and it feels like only a matter of time until he wins over a front office enough to land a promotion elsewhere.

For the Eagles, they have seen their secondary blossom with Parker around. He has a long history of helping develop young cornerbacks, guys like Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Patrick Surtain II, and even Jaire Alexander early in his career. The resumé is rather proven, and the hype is building.

“We just knew from the jump,” said Minnesota Vikings assistant coach Mike Pettine, the former Packers defensive coordinator who hired Parker in Green Bay. “The thing that’s always struck me with Christian is just how mature he is, beyond his years. You come to realize in coaching, there’s got to be kind of an ‘it’ factor with coaches, someone that has a presence, that he’s well respected. And it’s easy for me to see why he has progressed so quickly and has gained a reputation that he’s gained in a short amount of time he’s been in the league.” — The Athletic

For Philadelphia, they definitely hope he stays in the fold for 2026, but they may not want to hold their breath. We will see how it unfolds for the coaching staff under Nick Sirianni. Right now, their focus is finding a new offensive coordinator.
