The Philadelphia Eagles are signing head coach Nick Sirianni to a long-term contract extension after he guided the team to its first Super Bowl victory since 2018, the organization announced Monday.
While the Eagles did not disclose details of the new deal, team CEO Jeffrey Lurie commended Sirianni in a statement, highlighting "his authentic style of leadership" and other key qualities.
"As an organization, we have always strived to create a championship culture of sustained success," Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said in an official statement released by the team. "Nothing is more important to fostering such an environment than having tremendous leadership. Nick has embodied everything we were looking for in a head coach since we hired him four years ago. His authentic style of leadership, football intelligence, passion for the game, and growth mindset have helped to bring out the best in our team. I am excited for what the future holds for the Philadelphia Eagles."
Sirianni, 43, holds a 48-20 record as the Eagles' head coach, boasting a .706 winning percentage, marking the third-highest in the Super Bowl era. He has led the team to two Super Bowl appearances and owns a 6-3 record in postseason play.
Sirianni became the head coach of the Eagles in January 2021. In his first season, he led the team to a playoff berth, showing promise with a young roster. Sirianni's second year was even more impressive, as he guided the Eagles to a 14-3 regular season record and a trip to Super Bowl LVII, where they narrowly lost to the Kansas City Chiefs, 38-35.
He then rebounded from a challenging 2023 season by leading the Eagles to a historic 40-22 victory over the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.
Since the setbacks of the 2023 season, Sirianni has embraced a ceo leadership role, granting the offensive coordinator and quarterback Jalen Hurts more freedom to run the offense.
The approach has clearly paid off, prompting the Eagles to commit to him with a long-term extension.
