Dallas Goedert has emerged as one of the most dynamic tight ends in football over the last two seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. Though tight end is one of the most undervalued positions in the sport, there is no mistaking what kind of impact Goedert has on the Eagles’ offense.

There are plenty separating factors from the NFL’s elite tight ends from those who many would consider to be average. Through five impressive seasons, Goedert has vaulted his name up there with superstars such as Travis Kelce, Mark Andrews and George Kittle.

Pro Football Focus recently revealed their list of the NFL top 15 tight ends currently playing. To help properly identify what each player brings, PFF elected to break it down in three tiers.

Goedert checks in as the No. 4 tight end on the list, and the first in Tier 2 as “Great with potential to become elite.”

From PFF: Goedert dropped just two passes in 2022 while generating the fourth-most explosive plays at the position with 27. His 1.76 yards per route ranks fifth, and his 96.1% catchable catch rate ranks second among all tight ends. Goedert has been fully unleashed in the Eagles offense since Zach Ertz was shipped off to Arizona.

Goedert recorded 55 catches for 702 yards and three touchdowns in 12 games with Philadelphia in 2022. His 58.5 yards per game put him on a pace to total 995 receiving yards had he not missed time due to injury.

What makes Goedert’s production even more impressive is that he plays in an offense with elite wide receivers in A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith, who each eclipsed 1,100 receiving yards last season.

Goedert has placed himself on the radar of many defensive coordinators after being one of the NFL’s best-kept secrets early in his career. Goedert has all of the traits required to make that jump from great to elite. If he is able to stay healthy in 2023, Goedert will have an opportunity to climb into the top three at his position when this list comes out next offseason.
