Everybody knows about the Philadelphia Eagles' illustrious offensive firepower. Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, Dallas Goedert, Devonta Smith, and others create an impressive unit.

Their defense has been remarkable as well, though.

They may not get quite as much attention as the offensive players, but they are vital to the Eagles' success this season.

The defensive line is one of the best in the NFL. The secondary plays their brand of football and comes up with game-changing plays. Their athletic linebackers add another dimension to the depth as well.

Now, they've got an opportunity to set a legendary NFL record.

With five sacks in the Super Bowl, the Eagles would pass the 1984 Chicago Bears for most sacks in a single season.

Plenty of this credit will go to the defensive linemen like Fletcher Cox, Javon Hargrave, and Hanson Reddick. They deserve their flowers.

That being said, the secondary's performance this season has helped them get into position to potentially set this record. Everyone deserves praise.

Consider this as well. The mid-80's defenses for the Chicago Bears are some of the best defenses of all-time. Many people look at them as the best ever, actually.

Richard Dent, Steve McMichael, and Otis Wilson made up a historic pass rush for Chicago. The Bears went 15-1 and allowed just 12.4 points per game during that season.

Now, the Eagles are in a position to potentially pass them up on the leaderboards.

We do have to remember the fact that the Eagles did get an extra regular season game to accomplish this feat, though.

Regardless, it has been a special season for the defense in Philly.
