The Philadelphia Eagles were tied in the fourth quarter while facing a 1st-and-20 from Arizona's 30-yard line.

What happened next was embarrassing.

They had quarterback Jalen Hurts run the ball twice before calling a screen pass to running back Kenneth Gainwell.

The Eagles moved the ball for a total of five yards and were forced to punt.

The worst part? They used 170-pound wide receiver DeVonta Smith to block for Gainwell on the screen play.

Smith, also a 1,000-yard receiver, rolled his ankle on the block and left the game early.

Following the Eagles' 35-31 loss, Smith left the locker room on crutches while rocking a walking boot on his injured right foot.

Thankfully, the Eagles dodged a serious injury to their No. 2 wideout on a dumb play call.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Smith is "dealing with a mild ankle sprain."

He adds that more testing will be done, but Smith's injury isn't considered to be anything major.
