All-Pro starting right tackle Lane Johnson is easily the top three most important players on the Philadelphia Eagles roster…and they could be without him for some time.
However, whatever the amount of time might be, it won't be for long.
According to NBC Sports' John Clark, Johnson's ankle injury that he suffered in the Eagles' Week 6 loss to the New York Jets is "not that serious."
Johnson's initial X-rays on Sunday showed nothing serious and then a follow-up MRI on Monday morning also showed promising results.
That's huge news for an Eagles team that can't afford any more injuries since their defense has been riddled with injuries.
Johnson suffered the ankle injury early in the first half against the Jets and was ruled out of the game not too long after. He was replaced by second-teamer Jack Driscoll, who struggled to fill Johnson's shoes and allowed eight pressures along with a sack on quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Despite a shaky outing by Driscoll, it sounds like head coach Nick Sirianni remains confident in his ability to step up moving forward.
"We have won a lot of football games with Jack Driscoll there playing a little bit last year when Lane had to miss, too,' Sirianni said during Monday's press conference. "But make no mistake about it, when you lose a guy like Lane, he’s just one of the better players in the NFL. It’s going to affect things.
"I’ve got a ton of confidence in Jack. We’ll continue to work with Jack. Jack is versatile and can do a lot of different things. We’ll try to put Jack in the best positions we can to help him succeed as well."
