There’s a nasty narrative floating around league circles regarding the Philadelphia Eagles’ easy path to Super Bowl LVII. However, history suggests the Birds will kill this conversation when they take the field in Glendale, Arizona.

The Eagles make quick work of their two postseason opponents in the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers. The Birds combined to outscore the teams 69-14, coasting through the NFC’s playoff bracket.

While some are attempting to discredit the Eagles’ success by referring to their steamrolling of the Giants and 49ers, Philadelphia is just trouncing whoever it is that is in front of them.

In fact, the Eagles became the fifth team in the Super Bowl era to win their conference title game and divisional round game by at least 21 points. The previous four teams to have done so all wound up hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.

Philadelphia’s dominance should not be counted against them. Then again, folks have been trying to label the Eagles as frauds all season, but head coach Nick Sirianni and his group continue to stack wins.

The Eagles can, and surely have, use these doubters as fuel in their second trip to the Super Bowl in five seasons. Giving the most talented team in football extra motivation could spell bad news for Patrick Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs.
