The Philadelphia Eagles are on the hunt for their next starting right guard after losing Mekhi Becton to the Los Angeles Chargers in NFL free agency.
Right now, Eagles' rising third-year offensive guard Tyler Steen is projected to be the front-runner to fill Becton's void, but he still has a lot to prove. And after seeing that the Eagles have hosted a handful of offensive linemen on top 30 visits so far, it just goes to show they don't really have a lot of faith in Steen.
According to several reports, the Eagles are bringing Ohio State national championship star Donovan Jackson to the NovaCare Complex for a top 30 visit to get a better look at him.
Jackson was successful no matter where he lined up on the offensive line for the Buckeyes, taking snaps at left tackle, right tackle, left guard, and right guard
In 2024, Jackson played primarily at left tackle (529 snaps) and left guard (286). He doesn't have much experience at right guard, though his versatility just goes to show he can play where teams really need him.
Here's what NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein had to say about Jackson in his official scouting report:
"Broad-framed three-year starter with core power and leg drive to hold the line of scrimmage or change it. He can stick and sustain in-line or on the second level and is a plus finisher. Jackson has the athleticism for all tasks as an outside-zone blocker. He is also able to accelerate and lead the way on long pulls or counters. He leans against stunting/slanting fronts, and he can be tardy in opening his hips and activating his feet for recoveries. He's long but punches with wider hands and struggles to consistently maintain his edges when mirroring. Overall, Jackson has the measurables, power and movement for any scheme as a starting guard."
Jackson is considered a late Round 1 pick or early Round 2 pick. The Eagles pick at No. 32 overall in the first round and No. 64 in the second round.
