The Philadelphia Eagles are in position to add much-needed reinforcements for a Christmas Eve clash with the Dallas Cowboys.
Due to this week’s game coming on a Saturday, Philadelphia released its first injury report on Tuesday.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts, safety K’Von Wallace, and wide receiver Zach pascal stick out as players who were unable to suit up for Tuesday’s session. However, rookie safety Reed Blankenship logged a full practice, creating optimism around his status for this weekend.
Blankenship stepped up in a big way after filling in for the injured C.J. Gardner-Johnson. The undrafted free agent out of Middle Tennessee State University started in two games, totaling 14 tackles, one tackle for loss, and one interception. Blankenship has been targeted just five times, allowing two catches for a measly 10 yards.
He picked up a knee injury in Week 14 against the New York Giants, which kept him out on Sunday against the Chicago Bears. Blankenship serves as an upgrade over Wallace, who has proven to be vulnerable in the passing game as his role has increased.
News of Blankenship’s return is critical for the Eagles, who are still without Gardner-Johnson. Having missed two games, Gardner-Johnson is eligible to make his return against the New Orleans Saints on January 1.
