The Philadelphia Eagles absolutely nailed their first week of NFL free agency.

They added Bryce Huff to their pass rush, brought back C.J. Gardner-Johnson and upgraded their backfield with Saquon Barkley.

Many fans have been praising Eagles' general manager Howie Roseman for his well-known work when it comes to making bargain deals, but fans may be forgetting to thank longtime defensive guru Vic Fangio or even head coach Nick Sirianni as well.

ESPN's Adam Schefter joined Kincade and Salciunas on 97.5 The Fanatic where he gave some inside scoop into the Eagles' roster-building process during NFL free agency.

Schefter compared the overall process to grocery shopping and said Roseman isn't alone when it comes to picking the player(s), though he's ultimately the one who does the actual shopping.

"It is absolutely a collective vision, and Howie Roseman is the lead grocery shopper," Schefter said. "Vic says I like this guy, 'I like that guy,' and Howie Roseman goes to the market and brings home Bryce Huff and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson.

"Maybe Vic would have liked Danielle Hunter but it wasn't on sale and Bryce Huff was at a fair price. I do think it's a collaborative effort and I'm sure Nick does have some say, but it's a whole team effort with Howie going out to buy the groceries."

It's easy to see that Huff was Fangio's first gift under this revamped defense and the Eagles got him at a fair price for a highly sought-after edge in free agency at $51.1 million for three years.

Since he's efficient at blocking both the run and pass game, the Eagles will get the most out of Huff, using him as an every-down player under Fangio.

The Eagles snagged two more useful tools for Fangio in safety CJGJ and linebackers Devin White and Zack Baun.

Sure, the Eagles were already going to tackle some defensive needs in free agency but they wasted no time taking care of Fangio and his priorities at the very beginning.

The Eagles defense is also getting younger, which is Fangio's specialty.

Expect more "grocery" shopping to take place up until Fangio has every item he needs to make this Eagles defense the best.
