The Philadelphia Eagles are dealing with some injuries heading into Week 2, including at cornerback
Starting corner, James Bradberry, is in concussion protocol and it doesn't sound like he will have enough time to clear the process by Thursday night's game against the Minnesota Vikings.
If Bradberry is unavailable, the next man up is Josh Jobe, and the Eagles have plenty of confidence in the former 2020 undrafted free agent out of Alabama.
"We’ve got a lot of confidence in Josh," Sirianni said on Monday. "That’s why he’s made our roster the last two years. I think he’s a really physical corner who is long, strong, is able to just — when he gets his hands on you, he’s able to control you.
"We’ve got a lot of faith in Josh, and regardless of who’s in there, we know we can play the schemes that we want to play because Josh is our third corner, and your third corner has to play. There are times when he’s going to have to play some."
Jobe saw action in Sunday's 25-20 win over the New England Patriots after Bradberry took a shot to the head in the fourth quarter. He logged his first pass breakup and first forced fumble of his NFL career. However, he really came up big when he pushed running back Kayshon Boutte out of bounds during New England's final drive of the game.
"You get really excited about that when an undrafted free agent comes in and performs like Josh has, both on special teams, and gives you the confidence that you have in him on defense," Sirianni said.
Thursday could mark Jobe's first start of his NFL career and the Eagles will be counting on him to keep up with Minnesota's talented wide receiver tandem in Justin Jefferson and first-round pick Jordan Addison.
