Washington Huskies standout Troy Fautanu is considered one the best offensive tackles in this year's draft class and the Philadelphia Eagles have expressed interest in him.
According to Thomas Peterson of Breaking the Birds, the Eagles have met with the Washington "super athlete" twice.
Fautanu was a two-year starter for the Huskies, appearing in 40 games with 28 starts.
For his excellent work on the offensive line, he was named to All-Pac-12 second-team honors in 2022 and earned first-team honors in 2023, the same year he won the Morris Trophy which is given to the best offensive lineman in the conference.
According to A to Z Sports' Travis May, Fautanu is a lock anywhere between picks No. 17 and No. 30.
May explained what it is that makes Fautanu so appealing to many NFL teams:
"For starters, he just posted a 98th percentile A to Z Sports Athletic Composite at the NFL Combine (good for second among all tackles in the class). At 6'4", 317 pounds he ran almost exactly a five-second flat forty-yard dash and measured in with 82nd percentile arms. He's a physical freak with speed, burst, and prototype physical measurements to succeed at both tackle and guard.
"Fautanu also just anchored the offensive line that carried Michael Penix Jr. and the Washington Huskies to the national championship game. In fact, he never allowed more than two pressures in a game all last fall on that magical run to the biggest stage in college football. His consistency and potential versatility to play multiple positions along the offensive line make him a highly coveted prospect," – A to Z Sports' Travis May
The Eagles pick at No. 22 overall so there's a chance Fautanu is still there, but if they're extremely high on him then a trade up in the draft could be in their plans.
