This year we have seen that the Philadelphia Eagles are for real. They can score anyway they want, whether it be on the ground with Jalen Hurts and Miles Sanders, or through the air with Hurts throwing to A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
The Eagles have shown over the last two weeks that they can be an elite defense. But, I think they know they haven't reached their full potential just yet.
To help get there, Eagles' head coach Nick Sirianni is finding creative ways to promote the defense, in order to motivate them to get where they can.
During Friday's press conference, Sirianni wore a shirt that was a bit different than what most coaches wear.
"It's Avonte's interception," Sirianni told reporters when asked about what's on his shirt. "We spend a lot of time going over ways we can be better at creating turnovers and be better at taking care of the football like we know how important that stat is to winning and losing football games. So, anything we can do to promote it, to get better at it, we do, and this was an idea by the defensive staff, to have turnover T-shirts.
"I mean, who doesn't like getting gear with their picture on it creating a big-time pay in the game? The only thing I was a little upset about is Slay only got one T-shirt. I kind of got on the defensive staff a little bit that Slay should have gotten two. And then this week we created the one turnover last week. I just got the shirts on my desk but I won't wear them until the players get them."
The Eagles may not need much motivation, as they are playing fine now on that side of the ball. But, if they did, I can't think of a cooler way to do so. Who wouldn't want their name and face on a shirt that all of your teammates and coaches will wear?
This team has a fire on the defensive side of the ball. They have shown that they can be one of the best defenses in the league, just ask Carson Wentz and the Washington Commanders, who got sacked nine times by the Eagles.
I think this year we are going to see a lot of T-shirts with Eagles players on them. This team is going to make big plays on that side of the ball, and they will force turnovers.
