Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni talks to reporters following loss to San Francisco 49ers

The Philadelphia Eagles entered Week 13's matchup against the San Francisco 49ers having scored touchdowns on 12 straight red zone possessions.

That all changed on Sunday.

The Eagles gave up two touchdowns in the red zone in the first quarter alone.

"We had some red zone woes right there that we've done a much better job of and then today, they stopped us in the red zone," Eagles' head coach Nick Sirianni said post-game.

"…That was tough on us to have started the game fast and only be up six nothing. But hats off to them. They did a good job in the red zone. And again, we didn't coach it well enough or execute it well enough."

Had the Eagles scored on those two red zone drives, it could have been an entirely different ball game.

Instead, the Eagles went on to lose 42-19.

"Credit to them," Sirianni said. "That's a good football team. You know, we're always gonna want to play better when something like this happens and coach better. But you know, they did a good job. They've got good players and they had a good scheme and they stopped us."

Sure, you can place blame for the loss on the Eagles' red zone mistakes, however, it was an all-around ugly effort from the Birds.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 26 of 45 pass attempts for 298 yards and a single touchdown. He also led the backfield with 7 carries for 20 yards and a score.

Not only was Hurts sacked three times, but the Niners' defense held the Birds to 46 rushing yards on 18 carries.

Meanwhile, the Eagles' defense gave up six straight touchdowns.

One Eagles player who you can't place blame on is kicker Jake Elliott, who was 2 for 2 on both of his field goal attempts.

With the loss, the Eagles are 10-2 and failed to become the first NFL team to clinch a playoff spot this season.
