Eagles make an important hire to their coaching staff on Tuesday
The Eagles make up for the departure of Jonathan Gannon by hiring Sean Desai to be their new defensive coordinator.
The Philadelphia Eagles took care of some important business on Tuesday.
Jonathan Gannon had been the Eagles' defensive coordinator for the last two seasons before he took the head coaching job with the Arizona Cardinals. Now, they have his replacement, Sean Desai, who spent 2022 as the associate head coach and defensive assistant for the Seattle Seahawks.
Desai got his start in the NFL with the Chicago Bears in 2013 as their defensive quality control coach, a role he occupied for six seasons. He spent two years as their safeties coach before becoming the defensive coordinator for the Bears in 2021 when they finished sixth in total defense.
Under Gannon last season, the Eagles were second in total defense and first in sacks with 70. So, the standard set for Desai is extremely high.
