The Philadelphia Eagles made a big move on Monday.
The team released six-time Pro Bowl cornerback Darius Slay. This move saves the Eagles $4.3 million against the cap.
However, it is possible that he could return to the Super Bowl champions, just on a deal that helps the team save some money, according to NBC Sports Philadelphia's John Clark.
Slay was drafted by the Detroit Lions in 2013, but he was traded to the Eagles after four seasons. And during a podcast appearance in February, Slay did say that he would be open to returning to the Lions if the opportunity presented itself.
"I've got one more left (on my contract), but you know how that works," Slay said on the St. Brown Podcast. "Whatever they want to do, I might re-sign back, hopefully. If I ain't, we'll see what I'm doing because I do want to play one more year, for sure.
"If it is, it is. If it ain't, it ain't. For sure, the two spots I would love to always be at is Philly or Detroit. The main two, the main ones I'd love to be at."
Across his 5 seasons in Philadelphia, Slay recorded nine interceptions, 56 pass breakups, and three fumble recoveries in 74 games.
The Eagles have about $22,375,816 in available cap space for the 2025 NFL season, so it'll just depend how the team decides to use it.
