In search for their next defensive coordinator, the Philadelphia Eagles scheduled two interviews on Monday.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler first reported that the Eagles are set to interview former Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera for their open DC job.

And a few hours later, Fowler added that the Eagles will also interview former Jacksonville Jaguars defensive coordinator Mike Caldwell for the position.

The announcement comes just a day after the Eagles fired defensive coordinator Sean Desai and chose not to renew defensive assistant Matt Patricia's contract.

Caldwell, 52, played linebacker for the Eagles for four seasons (1998-2001).

After his playing days, he broke into the coaching world as the Eagles' defensive quality control coach in 2008. He worked his way up to linebackers coach and held that position for two seasons (2011-2012) and then moved on to the Arizona Cardinals.

He coached for the New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers before joining Doug Pederson at the Jaguars.

Caldwell has spent the last two seasons with the Jags as their DC, though after dropping five of their final six matchups and failing to make a playoff berth this season, he was dismissed. Jacksonville's defense finished 2023 ranked 17th in scoring and 22nd in total defense.

The Eagles are also interested in former New York Giants defensive coordinator Wink Martindale and ex-Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen, per The Athletic's Dianna Russini.

However, Nielsen will replace Caldwell as the Jaguars' new defensive coordinator.
