The Philadelphia Eagles are 7-0 now, which means they are continuing to prove everyone wrong. As head coach Sirianni said before the Week 8 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Eagles need to avoid a "f—ing letdown after a bye week."
The Eagles did exactly what he said, especially Jalen Hurts, who had a career game in terms of passing touchdowns, as he threw four on the day.
We are seeing a different side of Hurts this year. It's like he is on a whole other level, and is doing literally everything a quarterback can do to help their team win.
“I like to call it a triple threat," Hurts told the media on Sunday. "You have to be able to kill them with your legs at times, make the throws when you need to in the passing game, and kill them with your mind and with what you see and how you react.”
Hurts said he isn't a dual threat, simply because of his ability to use his mind as a weapon on the field, something I have yet to hear another player say.
He is leading the Eagles to a playoff season, yet again, but this time as an MVP front-runner, in my opinion. A lot of it is because of his skill set, yes, but he is right about the mental side of things.
Maturity goes along with that too, in my opinion, and if there is anything Hurts is, we know it's mature.
His game has been taken to the next level though, and I think it needs to be recognized some more than what he is currently getting. Hurts has always been discredited because of his "inability to throw," but on Sunday, that looked to be completely untrue.
If we just look at the touchdown passes he threw, we have a couple of almost mind-boggling throws, because they were that accurate in such tight windows.
Hurts is a passer, so that narrative needs to stop. But, he is also a runner, and he has a killer mindset. He is a triple-threat quarterback in my book.
