There is no denying that Iowa star Caitlin Clark is special. And all the records she has broken this year have made people debate whether she is truly the GOAT (greatest of all time).

However, Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi made it clear that they believe someone needs a championship to earn that title. And Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts weighed in on that topic when appearing on ESPN's Bird and Taurasi show during the National Championship game between Iowa and South Carolina.

"I think that's what makes the difference between the word best and great," Hurts said. "Everybody dreams of winning championships.

"I think there is something to winning championships. I think your talent kind of dictates how many you need to win. But championships, it's always about winning. That's the main thing and that's what everybody competes and works for."

Clark and Iowa got very close to the title last season, losing to LSU in the championship game. But in the Elite Eight, they sent LSU home and went on to defeat Paige Bueckers and UConn in the Final Four.

So having been so close and earning another spot in the championship game again gave them additional motivation. That's something Hurts can certainly related to.

"I think it's matured me," Hurts recalled from the Eagles loss to the Chiefs in 2023. "I think it's changed my perspective on things, because I don't think people realize how much of a fire that lights in you. I think it just propels you forward."

Of course Clark and Iowa want that championship. But that being said, there is no denying that she is an incredible player who will long be remembered for all of her impressive efforts in the collegiate game. And after this game, people will look forward to seeing what she brings to the WNBA next year.
