Philadelphia Eagles Jason Kelce retirement contract free agent return Super Bowl 2023 NFL football stats news

The Philadelphia Eagles have a laundry list of players set to hit the free agency market in the 2023 offseason Of the 18 players looking for new deals, center Jason Kelce is the most notable.

Kelce has played 12 seasons in the NFL, all of which have come with Philadelphia. While he has pondered retirement in the past, there is reason to believe Kelce returns to the Eagles for at least one more season.

Not only is Kelce a team captain and the vocal leader in Philly’s locker room, but he’s the anchor of the best offensive line in football. While most players in the trenches suffer from a decline in production as they grow older, the 35-year-old Kelce is coming off of a flawless year.

Kelce played in 20 games this season, playoffs included, yet he never allowed a single sack or hit on the quarterback. In other words, Kelce absolutely dominated whoever was lined up across from him on a snap-by-snap basis.

The Eagles drafted Cam Jurgens in the first round of last year’s draft, as he is thought to be Kelce’s successor. However, Spotrac projects Kelce’s value on the open market to be $11.9 million. But knowing that the Eagles are up against the salary cap, and his desire to finish his career as a Super Bowl champion, it wouldn’t be surprising to Kelce take a pay cut and run it back with the Birds.

If Kelce, who hasn't missed a game in eight seasons, feels like his body can hold up for another season it's safe to assume that the team would be glad to have him back.
