The Philadelphia Eagles are in the NFC Championship game come Sunday, but it could be one of the last home conference championship games in NFL History.
Following the AFC controversy after the cancelation of the Bengals and Bills game a few weeks back, the NFL has tossed around the idea of having neutral site NFC and AFC championship games in the future. Jason Kelce, however, isn't a fan of the idea. His reasoning was simple: It devalues the importance of the regular season.
"I am not a fan, obviously," Kelce said. "I am assuming they are doing that because it makes more money. A big part of the regular season is the bye week and the home field that you get. They have already added another playoff game. They have already added another playoff game. That is one of the really cool things about football, the regular season is very important.
"I am not in favor of it. And I am not in favor of a lot of things. Being an older player, I think I resist change in general because it affects me and my game. I actually liked when they had the Super Bowl in New York. Not every game is 70 or 80 degrees and sunny. In Football it's not about a series, it is more so about what team is better on that day."
The NFL envies the college-like atmosphere of college bowl games, where fans buy tickets and support both teams. But stripping teams of a home-field advantage for teams that are the No. 1 seed only devalues the reason teams push for top-seeding in NFL.
Kelce sees that, and he's being very vocal about making sure it doesn't happen.
