Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis might not be such a draft bust after all.

Davis was a bright spot in Week 3' sloppy game against the New Orleans Saints as he came up with a huge sack on quarterback Derek Carr in the first quarter.

That sack marked Davis' first full sack since Week 2 of the 2023 NFL season. He now has 3.5 sacks three to his name since entering the league three years ago.

Davis, a former No. 13 overall pick out of Georgia that the Eagles traded for in the 2022 NFL Draft, had no choice but to step up this season with Fletcher Cox retiring, however, he still has a lot to prove.

Davis did make some lifestyle changes this offseason by switching up his diet and adding more conditioning to his workouts, making him slimmer and faster.

Still, he's not producing the numbers that he should be by now three years into his NFL career, but Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio remains optimistic this early in the season.

“I thought Jordan showed some good movement ability,” Fangio told reporters after the Eagles' Monday Night Football loss to the Atlanta Falcons. “[Davis] was able to bend his body like I don’t think I’ve seen him do before, so it’s encouraging right now.”

Davis appeared in 13 games as a rookie in 2022, making five starts and logged 18 tackles. He became a full-time stater in 2023, starting all 17 games for the Birds while recording 2.5 sacks and 45 total tackles, including two tackles for loss and five QB hits.

Before the NFL, Davis posted 32 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks en route to a championship title during his final season at Georgia. His outstanding performance earned him the Chuck Bednarik Award (best defensive player) and the Outland Trophy (most outstanding interior lineman). He also earned a first-team AP All-American nod.
