Philadelphia Eagles rookie safety Andrew Mukuba was one of the many second-round picks from the 2025 NFL Draft who remained unsigned ahead of training camp.

However, the Eagles were able to get Mukuba to agree to a deal one day before the team officially kicked off their training camp.

With Mukuba officially putting pen to paper, the Eagles have signed their entire 2025 rookie class.

This was a great selection by the Eagles since Mukuba has the potential to be a strong replacement for star safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, whom the Eagles traded to the Houston Texans during the NFL free agency period.

Like Gardner-Johnson, Mukuba has the versatility to play in different spots in the secondary, whether it’s deep safety or in the slot. However, it could take a bit before he can step into Gardner-Johnson’s leadership role and have the same immediate impact.

If you ask Mukuba his preferred role with the Birds, he has made it obvious that he doesn’t have one in mind and is simply ready to contribute wherever the team needs him.

“For me, I’m an unselfish guy, so whatever is needed for the team at the moment,” Mukuba said via Sports Illustrated. “Like you said, I’m versatile, so I’m a guy that can come in and fill in whatever is needed at the time. I’m just looking forward to it. Whatever the  coach feels like is the best fit for the team, then I’m willing to do that.”

Mukuba comes to Philly following a dominant final season with the Texas Longhorns where he racked up 69 tackles, 12 pass breakups, five interceptions, and one forced fumble.

The Eagles still have Reed Blankenship, Tristin McCollum, Andre Sam, Sydney Brown, and Lewis Cine in the mix at safety, but Mukuba should make this offseason’s training camp battle interesting.
