Eagles’ Kevin Patullo gives his side of the A.J. Brown saga and Philly offense
Eagles OC Kevin Patullo is ignoring A.J. Brown’s loud and clear sign.
The Philadelphia Eagles are 4-0, but they should not be with how inconsistent the offense has looked, which has fans asking for offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo to be fired.
On Tuesday, Patullo attempted to make sense of the Eagles’ offensive issues, specifically pointing to the second half of Week 4’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“So, the second half — when you look at the game as a whole, we started off the game the way we wanted to. We had good pace, good rhythm, we got it going,” he said. “And, I think, really, when you evaluate games after the fact, there’s obviously things we want to work on to get better, and we know we can be critical of as a staff, that we know we can continue to improve. So, I think stepping out of it, there were some things that I felt like at times we were trying to do what we wanted to, and looking back, I think there’s some things we can change as far as how we want to approach that situation.
“But, really it just comes down to learning from each situation. We’ve had very unique games to this point, so I think it’s been good to go through that early in the season. We’ve played really, really good defenses, and we’ve had to adjust accordingly … I think it’s been a really good learning process for us early now as a coaching staff and players to continue to grow as an offense.”
Kevin Patullo is Ignoring A.J. Brown’s Loud and Clear Signal
The Eagles have managed wins despite being outgained by every single opponent so far, and No. 1 wide receiver A.J. Brown, who has just 28 targets to his name so far, is clearly unhappy about it.
After declining to talk to the media on Sunday, Brown took to social media, where he expressed his frustration with the Eagles. While he didn’t call out names, it’s obvious he isn’t thrilled with his lack of targets after quoting the Bible: “If you’re not welcomed, not listened to, quietly withdraw. Don’t make a scene. Shrug your shoulders and be on your way.”
According to Patullo, however, the two are on good terms.
“Him and I have had no problem,” Patullo said. “I know where his heart is and where he lies. He wants to win. So he feels like he can do anything and everything to help us at all times. As far as I’m concerned, him and I are in a good spot.”
The last time Brown posted something about being unhappy in Philly, he didn’t speak to the media for weeks. We’ll see if he dodges them again or decides to speak on Wednesday.
