Eagles’ latest player workout signals Philly is far from confident with their cornerback room
And they have an open roster spot.
The Philadelphia Eagles are clearly not confident in their current cornerback room.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Eagles worked out former Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Mike Hilton on Monday morning.
“Sources: The #Eagles are working out former #Bengals CB Mike Hilton today. Hilton is a highly respected veteran with 13 career INTs, who could help bolster Philly’s secondary,” Hilton wrote on X/Twitter.
Most recently, Hilton spent some of his offseason with the Miami Dolphins but was released ahead of the 2025 regular season. Before that, he played four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers and four with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Hilton, 31, has an impressive background since he entered the league as an undrafted rookie out of Ole Miss in 2016. Just last fall, Hilton played in 16 games for the Bengals, making 10 starts where he gave up three touchdowns on 61 pass attempts. From 2020 to 2023, Hilton allowed only six touchdowns across 60 games while holding opposing quarterbacks to a passer rating of 79.2.
Through eight seasons and 123 career games so far, Hilton has logged 13 interceptions, 11.5 sacks, 520 tackles (66 for losses) and 56 passes defensed.
Eagles Currently Have an Open Roster Spot
The Eagles currently have an open roster spot after releasing Kenyon Green, which means they should use it to bring on Hilton ahead of their Week 2 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
Hilton has primarily played at nickel cornerback but he could play outside. If not, perhaps the Eagles plan to have him to play nickel and put Cooper DeJean on the outside opposite Quinyon Mitchell.
Whatever the Eagles decide to do with Hilton if they bring him on, it will be better than what they’re currently working with at the CB2 position because Kelee Ringo, Adoree Jackson, and Jakorian Bennett are just not cutting it.
