Eagles lose another potential top OC candidate to NFC foe that casts new dark cloud over Philadelphia’s search
The Eagles are having trouble finding a new offensive coordinator for Nick Sirianni’s staff.
Another day – another offensive coordinator candidate off the board for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Philly has struggled to finalize and lock down a candidate to replace Kevin Patullo at OC, and it is worth noting that it’s not for a lack of trying by the Eagles front office. The latest NFL coaching news for a key assistant won’t be a positive for the Eagles search, either.
Zac Robinson chooses Buccaneers over Eagles for OC position
According to Adam Schefter, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to hire former Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson. The Eagles had interest in the high-upside OC candidate, who is choosing to stay in the NFC South rather than leaving for the NFC East.
Robinson is a young offensive mind, who comes from the Sean McVay coaching tree. He is a well-respected assistant, who was moved on from in Atlanta when they fired head coach Raheem Morris. Kevin Stefanski has replaced Morris there, which truly shut down a return for Robinson since he would probably like to continue calling plays for an offense.
“His offense is zone-based in the run game, and he mixes it up in the passing game, attacking both the middle of the field and the sidelines at a pretty even rate (50% of attempts were over the middle in 2024 and 48% in 2025, per SIS).” — Evan Winter on Zac Robinson
For Philly, they have had an eye on Robinson, and he was one of their first official interviews for the opening. It’s yet another candidate that doesn’t seem to prefer the opening in Philadelphia for whatever reason.
Mike McDaniel and Brian Daboll are already out of the running
McDaniel took the Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator job after multiple OC and head coaching interviews around the NFL. The Eagles had him at the top of their list of candidates, according to reports. He chose a different landing spot.
As for Daboll, Dianna Russini has reported that he wants the Buffalo Bills head coaching job, where he’s entrenched in the interview process, but he also has interest in being the next Tennessee Titans OC if he doesn’t land the job in the northeast. The Eagles don’t seem to be in contention for him, either.
The speculation is no longer speculation. It is crystal clear that the Eagles OC job is not meant for everyone, and multiple dynamic, targeted candidates for Philly have looked for an opportunity elsewhere instead of fully choosing the OC job under Nick Sirianni.
