Eagles’ loss to Cowboys cost a lot more than just a game following latest injury update
The Eagles must find replacement options.
The Philadelphia Eagles’ latest loss to the Dallas Cowboys was a frustrating one. Blowing a massive first-half lead is never fun, but the Eagles did it by committing costly errors and “playing to not lose” to an extent. In the defeat, their defense suffered some rough losses as well, particularly on the back end.
Andrew Mukuba may miss time following injury vs. Cowboys
According to Eliot Shorr-Parks, the young defensive back had a boot on his right foot after the game against Dallas. He was forced to leave in the second half and was clearly in a lot of pain when he was helped off the field. The specifics of the injury are not yet known, but Mukuba could miss some significant time.
Reed Blankenship also left the game due to injury. He did not return, either. This issue for Mukuba just compounds that issue on the back end for the Philly secondary.
“Mukuba will undergo further tests to evaluate the severity of the injury, but the rookie second-rounder is facing an uphill battle to play on a shortened week, as the Eagles’ next game takes place Friday against the Bears,” CBS Sports reported.
Sydney Brown may step into a major role at safety for the Eagles’ defense. He was on the field plenty against the Cowboys, and it was a mixed bag of results for his performance. The Eagles need him to step up going forward, and I would not be surprised if they sign a free agent defensive back this week to provide some depth.
Andre’ Sam and Brandon Johnson are both safeties currently on the Eagles’ practice squad, too.
