The Philadephia Eagles have made their decision on whether or not starting quarterback Jalen Hurts will play on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.

After not practicing all week due to a concussion he suffered in Week 16's loss to the Washington Commanders, Hurts has been ruled out.

This means backup quarterback Kenny Pickett will get the start against the Cowboys at home.

In addition to Hurts, wide receiver Britain Covey (neck) and rookie running back Will Shipley (concussion) have been ruled out.

Starting linebacker Nakobe Dean (abdomen) is listed as doubtful.

Eagles Week 16 Injury Report Observations

  • Nick Sirianni has discussed resting his key players when they need it in order to keep them ready to go for their playoff run, which is why several starters were sidelined throughout the week.
  • Quarterback Jalen Hurts's concussion came in Week 16's loss to the Washington Commanders. He will need to pass through concussion protocol in order to return to practice.
  • Kenny Pickett (ribs) was a full participant at practice on Thursday and Friday after being limited on Wednesday.
  • Pickett had already made it seem like he was starting vs. Dallas on Thursday when he told reporters, "I’ve got a lot of family coming. It’s a surreal feeling to having this opportunity. I’m doing everything I can to be prepared and get ready for it. I’m excited."
  • The Eagles signed quarterback Ian Book to the practice squad on Thursday for emergency depth.
  • Wide receiver Britain Covey has now missed the last five games with a neck injury, despite practicing during the week. Rookie Cooper DeJean has done a good job stepping in for him on punt return.
  • Wide receiver A.J. Brown injured his knee ahead of Week 16's matchup but played through the injury. Friday was his first full practice.
  • The Eagles must activate Bryce Huff off Injured Reserve in order for him to return to action. He is still wearing a cast on his left hand.
  • We could see more from rookie linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. if Nakobe Dean doesn't suit up. Veteran Oren Burks is also available.
