The Philadelphia Eagles underwent significant improvements up and down its roster in 2022. According to Pro Football Focus, the most improved player from the Eagles’ Super Bowl LVII runner-up squad will likely raise a few eyebrows across the fanbase.

Pro Football Focus labels interior defensive lineman Milton Williams as the Birds’ most improved player in 2022. A rotational player on the defensive line, Williams saw his PFF grade jump from a 49.6 as a rookie in 2021 to a 89.8 mark this season.

Pro Football Focus’ excerpt on Williams reads as follows:

"In just his second NFL season, Williams flashed potential as a rotational player on the Eagles' defensive line. Stout against the run, he finished the season with a 73.5 PFF run-defense grade and didn’t miss any tackles."

Williams’ four sacks and nine tackles for loss proved that he is capable of wreaking havoc in the backfield in the run and pass game. The Eagles’ third-rounder in 2021 took major strides in his second season in the NFL and could be thrust into a bigger role in 2023.

Williams is just another one of general manager Howie Roseman’s draft day gems over the past few seasons. Expect Williams to get more involved next year as the team faces numerous difficult decisions on the defensive line with free agency looming.
