The Philadelphia Eagles made an appearance at Colorado's Pro Day this week.
The Eagles sent their national scout and former Buffalo himself, Jordan Dizon, to Bolder to get a closer look at potential draft prospects.
Colorado Football's official Twitter/X account posted a video featuring Dizon speaking on the importance of these pro days.
"We're watching these seniors perform in front of NFL scouts for the pro day," Dizon said. "We're looking at pure athleticism. You take away the scheme. You take away what they're asking these players to do. You just want to evaluate the true athlete.
"You're trying to prove to everyone that you are worth an NFL opportunity and you showcase your athleticism and just your body at work. You want to prove to people that you belong."
The Buffaloes had nine players showcase their talents including linebackers Juwan Mitchell and Noah Young; defensive ends Taijh Alston, Domineck and Derrick McLendon; receiver Javon Antonio; running back Kavosiey Smoke; safety Rodrick Ward and defensive lineman Leonard Payne Jr. Former Buffalo quarterback Blake Stenstrom also worked out.
Wide receiver Xavier Weaver is considered Colorado’s best 2024 NFL Draft prospect, however, he did not participate in the NFL Combine nor pro day as he continues to recover from recent shoulder surgery.
But of those nine who did workout, Ward, Mitchell and McLendon, were the three players that posted impressive numbers.
And interestingly enough, they play three of the positions that the Eagles are projected to target during draft week.
While Colorado finished with an underwhelming overall 4-8 record in 2023, Dizon emphasized that he has noticed a big shift in energy since Deion Sanders took over the football program last fall, and it's only up from here for the Buffaloes.
"There's so much energy being back," Dizon said. "It's so much fun to come back and see Coach Prime, all the energy that he's brought to the organization. It's wonderful to see where we're at now.
