Front office executives predict who Eagles will select with No. 10 pick in 2023 NFL Draft
Several front office execs got together to predict the top 10 picks in the 2023 NFL Draft.
The Philadelphia Eagles are in a great position when it comes to the 2023 NFL Draft.
Philadelphia is already a championship-caliber team so it's not like they need drastic upgrades.
Thanks to a trade with the New Orleans Saints last offseason, the Eagles have two first-round picks in this year's draft.
Philadelphia has the No. 10 overall pick (from New Orleans) and the No. 30 overall pick (their own).
Note: Here's the trade that went down last year between the Eagles and the Saints that involved 2022 draft picks as well as 2023 and 2024 selections: Eagles acquire: No. 18 pick, No. 101 pick, No. 237 pick, 2023 first-round pick, 2024 second-round pick. Saints acquire: No. 16 pick, No. 19 pick, No. 194 pick
It's hard to predict who the Eagles will take with the No. 30 overall pick because we don't know how the first round will play out.
Predicting who they'll take at No. 10 is difficult, too. But it's a little easier since it's early in the first round.
Several NFL general managers and front office execs mapped out this week what they expect to happen in the first 10 picks of the draft via The Atheltic.
The anonymous front office execs and general managers have the Eagles selecting Illinois cornerback Devon Witherspoon at No. 10.
They have Philly passing on Georgia defensive lineman Jalen Carter in this exercise, due to his pending legal issues.
With Carter falling this far and the Eagles needing to fortify their defensive front with young talent, it was tempting to slot the Georgia pass-rusher here. But with criminal charges pending against Carter, the decision was made to set him aside for the time being. Clemson’s Murphy would make sense if the defensive line priority and Murphy’s talent outweigh the boost the Eagles would get in their defensive backfield.
If everything checks out with Carter, landing him at No. 10 would be a steal. But I can understand if Philly is hesitant to draft him (they should gain clarity on his situation over the next few weeks).
Cornerbacback or defensive line seems to be the consensus for the Eagles at No. 10.
Based on the way mock drafts have been playing out, Philly should be able to add an impact player at either position. Witherspoon, an All-American and All-Big Ten first-team selection, would certainly be a nice addition to an already-loaded roster.
