Eagles’ NFC rival is still trying to trade for WR A.J. Brown after first wave of free agency
They would have an unbelievable offense.
The Philadelphia Eagles have seen a bit more activity as the first major wave of NFL free agency wraps up. They’ve seen some additions join their defense, in particular, after some notable losses like Jaelan Phillips and Nakobe Dean.
The latest update on Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown may perk up the ears of Birds fans. According to Dianna Russini, an NFC West team is still eyeing a possible A.J. Brown trade.
Rams keeping an eye on A.J. Brown trade with Eagles
Via reports, the Los Angeles Rams discussed trading for Brown ahead of their Trent McDuffie trade with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Rams then gave him the star cornerback a massive contract extension.
Apparently, LA hasn’t completely given up on a potential deal for Brown, and those talks arent completely extinguished. That’s a situation worth monitoring for Philly.
The Rams currently own the 13th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. On day two, LA has picks 61 and 93 in rounds two and three.
Making this move would make an NFC Super Bowl contender even stronger on offense. Rams QB Matthew Stafford would be throwing the ball to Puka Nacua, Davante Adams, and A.J. Brown. Good luck, defenses. It remains to be seen how much interest the Eagles would have in making that a reality.
Keep in mind – trading Brown before June 1 would incur a $20.1M cap loss for the Eagles, so the return from another team would have to incorporate that negative aspect of Philly moving off of him.
Would the Rams mortgage future draft capital in order to make that move?
Or maybe the New England Patriots? Would the Birds even entertain trading him if they would only be getting compensation for 2027 instead of something to help them win now?
Those are all questions that will remain, unless a surprising deal gets done before then. We’ll see how it all shakes out for the Eagles, but the Rams are still sniffing around to see what happens with the former Pro Bowl wideout.
