The Super Bowl run and Jalen Hurts' remarkable season from 2022 are all in the rearview mirror for the Philadelphia Eagles, as evidenced by one particular moment from Friday's practice in training camp.
It's all about this year and getting better each and every day to repeat as champs in a loaded NFC East. Winning the division could very well mean the difference between the 1-seed and the 5-seed.
That focused mindset showed in practice when head coach Nick Sirianni chewed out Hurts at the end of the team's two-minute drill.
According to The Philadelphia Inquirer's Josh Tolentino, Hurts received an "earful" after being short of the marker and not handing the football to the referee to save time.
Obviously, that's exactly what two-minute drills try to hammer down. It's not only about executing the plays that can make or break a game come crunch time but also about handling the intricacies of situational football, such as handing the ball to the referee.
It's only the first week of padded practice and the Eagles head coach letting Hurts have it isn't anything to be worried about. In fact, it's pretty cool to know accountability is being held no matter who the player is.
As Eagles fans have come to learn, Hurts is the ultimate coachable player. He remains one of the best leaders in the league entering the 2023 NFL season.
New NFL rule would’ve kept Eagles from drafting Jalen Carter
The Philadelphia Eagles might’ve avoided taking the controversial defender if a recent change to the NFL Personal Conduct Policy would’ve been in place before.
