The Philadelphia Eagles (8-0) are always looking for ways to improve the team. Even as the NFL’s lone undefeated team, head coach Nick Sirianni left the door open for one former coach to come aboard.

The Indianapolis Colts fired head coach/offensive coordinator Frank Reich on Monday. Reich  served as the Eagles’ OC from 2016-2017, and was obviously part of the Birds’ Super Bowl LII victory.

Reich served as a mentor to Sirianni in the pair’s time together. After working together with the Chargers, Reich hired Sirianni as his offensive coordinator when he took the head coaching gig with the Colts.

Sirianni landed the Eagles job after demonstrating his talents in Indianapolis, but he’s always stayed close with Reich.

When asked about Reich on Thursday, Sirianni gave a genuine answer to reporters.

“Obviously, I’m only concerned about what’s going on here. Trying to keep my eyes on the situation here and that’s being ready for Washington,” Sirianni said. “But, as you know what I think about Frank and how much I respect Frank as a person, how much I respect him as a football coach, you can probably imagine how I feel.”

He went on to mention that his focus has been entirely on Monday night’s matchup with the Washington Commanders, but he didn’t rule out Reich joining his staff as an advisor or a consultant.

“You know how I feel about Frank. I’m always going to use him as a consultant whether he’s in the building or if he’s not in the building. I haven’t really even thought of that to be completely honest with you. We’re just really focused on today to get ready for Washington.”

Reich was dealt a bad hand of cards in Indy, and an immediate return to coaching would be surprising. However, if Reich does want to jump back in teaming up with his protégé is an ideal fit.
