The Philadelphia Eagles kicked off the 2023 season with a roster full of healthy, but that isn't the case anymore.
Philly's defense was already riddled with injuries when they entered their Week 6 matchup against the New York Jets and things only got worse for them from there.
Cornerback Bradley Roby left the game with a shoulder injury, while cornerback Eli Ricks exited with a knee injury, and safety Reed Blankenship was sidelined with a rib injury.
Those three guys added to the list of injuries on defense that had earlier included, Avonte Maddox (pectoral) and Darius Slay (knee), safeties Justin Evans (knee) and Sydney Brown (hamstring), and defensive tackles Jalen Carter (ankle) and Marlon Tuipulotu (triceps).
Evans and Maddox are on injured reserve, as for the others, head coach Nick Sirianni isn't ruling out anyone else for the time being.
"It’s still early. Really early. We saw them. Obviously, we miss players like that, and we want to get them back as soon as they can," Sirianni said in Monday's press conference. "We also want to keep their health as the first and foremost thing and make sure they’re in for the long haul and they’re ready to go when they play.
"So, we have a lot of time. We have a lot of things to do before we play this game. A lot of time to go before we play this game. Again, it’s early on. You’ll have more feel of where they are on Wednesday. So, we’ll see."
The Eagles return to practice on Wednesday in preparation for their Week 7 matchup against the Miami Dolphins and they will have to release a full injury report that afternoon.
Until then, Sirianni remains optimistic.
"We’ll see on all those guys," Sirianni continued. "They’re all going to be in a little bit different categories as far as potential time out, but, again, I don’t want to put unnecessary timetables on anything really because there are just so many different things that can happen within the next couple days.
"And so, I’m just going to always keep that close to the vest, as you know. Not because I don’t want to help you guys do your job, but more so because there is so much time to play out and our guys in the training room do an unbelievable job of helping guys get better, and also the guys do a great job of getting in there and helping themselves out and giving themselves every opportunity to play as soon as they can play."

The offense can’t afford to lose their All-Pro tackle.
