It took two weeks and two quarters before the Philadelphia Eagles finally turned things up on offense against the Los Angeles Rams to win 33-26.

After the game, both quarterback Jalen Hurts and wide receiver A.J. Brown had something to say about the Eagles playing too conservatively.

First Hurts mentioned they did the first half “to themselves” where they scored only seven points.

“We gotta come out aggressive and play our game,” Hurts said. “You saw out game in the second half.”

Brown followed that up emphasizing that the Eagles have way too many weapons to hold back.

“Me personally, I truly believe we’ve got so many good players on this team and at times you can feel like we’re being conservative and I don’t think it should be like that,” Brown said. “Let your killers do their thing and play fast and play aggressive. Not saying that we haven’t been, but me personally that’s what I would like.”

Kevin Patullo Responds to Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown’s Comments

On Tuesday, Eagles offensive coordinator was asked about Hurts and Brown’s comments on playing more aggressive and gave his thoughts, admitting that was the plan all along.

“Yeah, I think that’s always when we go into every week, that’s what we want to do,” Patullo said. “We want to be the aggressive person, right? The word this past week for the offense of when I spoke to the offense was ‘Attack.’ We want to be in attack mode and going into the game, that was what we wanted to do. The first drive was a good drive. We went for it on fourth down, we threw the ball down into the red zone at the goal lines. We were in an attack mode.

“We got stuck in those weird situations where we just couldn’t get it out of there and get it going. And then the second half, obviously, we had to play a little bit differently, but we were able to get it going. So I think they know what we want to do, and I think it was just exciting for it to happen and come back. When you get emotional after games, you get excited because we were able to do something that was very difficult to do, and all the plays.

“And the guys played tremendous. The players themselves were awesome in those moments and the conversations and getting that done was such a big moment. It was really cool for everybody.”

It’s obvious the Eagles are still finding their groove and identity as they enter Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but last Sunday’s thrilling win over the Rams was a big step in the right direction.
