The Philadelphia Eagles look primed to make a return to the Super Bowl in 2023 after putting together one of the best draft classes in years and a free agency period that was able to successfully address most of their needs.

The Eagles are perched in a great spot to have an even better year in 2023 than they did in 2022, but they do still have one hole that could do with an upgrade.

The loss of C.J. Gardner-Johnson hurts. Philly was able to go out and draft Sydney Brown, but even he probably isn't going to crack the starting duo. Terrell Edmunds and Reed Blankenship are the likely starters for now, but bringing in one more proven guy is far from a bad idea.

With free agency over and the draft in the rearview mirror, the best option for the Eagles to become a guaranteed starter is a trade. Why not trade for one of the best players in the NFL?

When discussing Budda Baker today, NFL Insider Jeremy Fowler had the following to say:

"This is a player who has requested a trade and would like to go to a contender, I'm told," Fowler said on Friday's episode of SportsCenter. "… He'd also like a new contract. So, any team bringing him in would have to work around that. Philadelphia is a team that still has sort of a safety need. They made the D'Andre Swift trade from Detroit to get a new running back last week. There was a theory around the league that they'll just get crazy and get a top-notch safety, too. It didn't quite happen, but it could be one to watch."

Fowler does make a lot of sense here. The Eagles need the help and could find a way to make the trade compensation and salary work based on some of their recent moves.

Assuming the sole focus for this team is winning the Super Bowl, trading picks and giving up cap space for a guy like Baker seems like an obvious way to put the team in that best position.

Budda Baker would be an instant starter for the Eagles and a major improvement even over who they had last season. Does the best secondary in football sound like a good title? If so, this trade makes plenty of sense.
