The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs battled in an epic Super Bowl this past Sunday. However, after the events of Tuesday, there will be no love lost between the two franchises going forward.
Chiefs' wide receiver Ju-Ju Smith-Schuster drew a flag on Eagles' cornerback James Bradberry with under two minutes left in the fourth quarter that extended the drive for Kansas City. If Bradberry didn't commit the penalty, the Eagles would have had plenty of time to possibly tie the game or win it with one final drive, but the Chiefs kicked the game-winning field goal with eight seconds left.
Despite the controversy of the call, Bradberry took responsibility for it.
"It was a holding. I tugged his jersey. I was hoping they would let it slide," Bradberry said.
That wasn't enough for Smith-Schuster. He took to Twitter to remind Bradberry of his mistake with a rather savage Valentine's Day reference.
This set off Eagles' wide receiver A.J. Brown, who responded with a strong message for Smith-Schuster.
"First off congratulations," Brown said. "Y’all deserve it. This is lame. You was on the way out the league before mahomes resurrected your career on your 1 year deal Tik-Tok boy. He admitted that he grabbed you but don’t act like your like that or ever was. But congratulations again!
Brown wasn't the only Eagles player that took up for Bradberry. Safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson got involved also.
Can we all just get along? Not in this case.
Chiefs' quarterback Patrick Mahomes put out a tweet that was certainly a reaction to what Brown said to Smith-Schuster. Once Brown got word of it, he had a little message for Mahomes as well.
The Chiefs host the Eagles next season. Needless to say, it will be one of the most anticipated matchups of the year.
