Eagles can only play one of three NFC teams to start potential Super Bowl run this postseason
The Eagles’ potential opponents are dwindling to begin playoff run.
The Philadelphia Eagles may rest some starters in Week 18, but there is still plenty left to unfold as far as seeding in the NFC during the final weekend of the regular season. Based on the Eagles’ own matchup against the Washington Commanders, as well as some other conference action, Philly will learn who they will start their playoff run against this season.
According to different scenarios, there are only three teams that the Eagles could play to begin postseason play. Each of them have been lauded as a top team in the conference at different times this season. Each present a tall task for the Eagles, but they’ve proven to be up to that task in recent years.

Green Bay Packers
If the Eagles win in Week 18 and the Chicago Bears lose, Philadelphia will earn the NFC’s No. 2 seed. They would play the Packers to begin postseason play. Packers starting quarterback Jordan Love missed their Week 17 game, a loss, due to injury. His status is still undetermined for Week 18 and beyond.
San Francisco 49ers or Los Angeles Rams
Philadelphia could play the 49ers or Rams, depending on how those two teams fare – along with the Eagles. If the scenario for Philly earning the No. 2 seed does not occur, then they’ll be locked into playing one of these two talented NFC West squads.
It is also worth noting that the Eagles will not play the Seattle Seahawks in the first round. They are guaranteed the No. 5 seed, at worst, placing them out of the potential range of outcomes for Philly’s first opponent in the playoffs.
Regardless of foe, the Eagles can beat anyone in the NFC if they play their best brand of football. They boast arguably the top defense in the conference, and the offense can perform well at full strength. We’ll see how healthy they can get before they attempt their playoff run.
